ABOUT:
Bee Pethick is a former dancer turned video editor and director. Born and raised in rural Lindsay, ON, her interest in film direction and editing sparked young when she was gifted the video editing software Premiere Pro in the fifth grade.

Always a dancer, Bee studied with Ballet Jörgen and George Brown Dance in Toronto. Upon graduation in 2017 she received the Faculty Award and Modern Dance Award. During her studies she began to take a deeper interest in film production when multiple classmates approached her to create short videos for their choreographic works. In 2019 she graduated from Ryerson’s Certificate Film Studies program and received the ‘Best Achievement in Editing’ Award at the 2020 Peter Gerretson Film Awards.

Since then Bee has worked as a freelance editor and director while continuing her own personal research of movement and expression through experimental film. She is interested in themes of abandonment, relationships, and the intricacies of genuine communication. She thinks and works visually, weaving the fervour and fluidity she established as a dancer into everything she creates.
